No, actually I would say it's surprisingly even-handed. The only criticism I have is that the hero has gotten a little too eager about torturing bad guys for information...
Given the overall effect of the satire, I wouldn't be surprised if the cut were more creatively motivated than political. I think it actually works better without the overt mention of Iraq.
And without being too much of a right-wing apologist, I agree that 24 did a good job of presenting the civil liberties/national security debate. Much more 'balanced' than reality.
I had a great childhood, however when I was around 14, I started losing my way. I got my life back at 29 and now have 17 years of semi-sobriety. Many years ago, I was diagnosed with OCD after a lifetime of odd behavior. Politically, I consider myself a far/hard left liberal who will fight against the right wing to my dying day.
