I'm back

(Soho)

I'm back from New York City. I had a wonderful time.

The dinner for my brother was impressive. I was very proud of him. The companion dedication book was signed by Hillary Clinton, Mayor Bloomberg, and Chuck Schumer. As Ron Burgundy would say, he's kind of a big deal.

I spent a lot of time with my brother & his family, cousins, Aunt, Uncle, and great Aunt Ruth. That was the best part. I don't get to see them often enough and being with them made my sister & I want to move there. We are considering a move to Brooklyn or New Jersey. Manhattan would be great, but I'd like a house with a yard for Norman & Stella...and the prices are high, to say the least.

I miss my cousins already. They are the best people in the world.

We did lots & lots of shopping, as well. The best shopping was in Soho.

Times Square was awesome. My niece & I ate at the Hello Deli, where we got to meet Rupert G from Late Night with David Letterman. We walked in and there he was! Just like on the show.

The last day we went to 30 Rockefeller Center. My nephew and I went to the "Top of the Rock," where you go up to the observation deck on the 70th floor. It was super-cool.

Many miles were walked, a lot of delicious food was eaten, (pizza, of course) and good times were had by all.

I am still afraid of flying, but I was able to get on the plane. The return flight was nerve-racking, as I will explain at a later date.

Some things I've learned about NYC:

At certain times of the day, it is impossible to catch a cab.

Unlike driving in Minnesota, cars stop for yellow lights.

I could live there.

GREAT photos, from what had to be a great trip! I also got to see relatives this weekend (another family reunion, but on a smaller scale). However, as you got to see NYC, I saw Burns, Oregon (population about 4,000)! But seeing relatives is wonderful stuff, and I'm glad you got to see some of your favorites!

Very excited and jealous! I love NYC so much - I would live there in a heartbeat if we could afford it. Another place to check out for living is in New Jersey, just on the other side of the bridge. Views of the city and cheaper. It might be Jersey City?

Very cool pics, I love NYC, did you eat at any cool restaurants Lizzy? My wife and I are spending a long weekend in NY in Sept, kinda combining some a work trip with our birthdays. I can't wait. I haven't been to the city since 92, your pics are really making me jealous!

Now way its Rupert, you even look like a New Yorker - hope you don't carry back that NYC mentality to MN though, you know pushing people off the sidewalk and swearing at passing cars for kicks.

Great to see you enjoyed yourself Lizzy!

I normally take about two (2), trips per year to New York, but since the passing of my friend last year, I haven't made a trip there at all.

Great pictures you came back with and you know I'm just waiting to hear what caused the flight back to be so nerve-racking.

Great photos. Welcome back. I was away too. God, it's hard to get back into the political mindset after a trip, but I guess it has to be done.

I will put them on a disc for you, Hallie.

Snave, Thanks! I agree. Seeing relatives is wonderful.

Michelle, I love NYC, too. And, yep, we are considering New Jersey. That would make the most sense. It's suburban, yet you can just hop a train to the city.

Thanks, J!

Elvez, Yes, we definitely ate some delicious food. That's one of the best things about NYC -- you can get any food at any time. You are going to have a great time there.

Damien, Yep, me & Rupert...pretty cool, huh! Thanks for the compliment. I found the people there to be very nice. It's not true what they say.

Thanks, LT! I'll tell you about my return trip on the next post.

Tom, You hit the nail on the head. Being on vacation puts you in a different state of mind. In fact, I am still having a hard time concentrating on politics...or homework. I'm sure I'll be back in the swing of things within a couple days.

You're right Lizzy it's not what they say (anymore).
I Love NY, always have, always will even if that butt wipe Giuliani was Mayor.
Last time I was there the Mayor was a sweet little bald guy that loved the world, not hated it.
