As each day passes, my anxiety grows. I keep waiting for John Kerry to step up to the plate and start slamming Bush for real, but it never happens. What is he thinking? What are his people thinking? As each hour passes, the lack of a backbone in the Kerry camp helps Bush.
Kerry has practically all of the creative community on his side. Hey, Spielberg, make an attack ad. Hey, Springsteen, write a protest song (think "Ohio" by CSN&Y.) Since the righties don't like hearing the truth about their beloved Thief in Chief, maybe they will listen to their favorite stars. At this point, it couldn't hurt.
This anxiety has not been good for my OCD. I've noticed that I've been checking & rechecking the door locks and stove dials a lot. I have also been doing more hair pulling. There is only one thing that will ease my symptoms - a new president.

I agree with you. Kerry seems stunned. He doesn't have to respond to each ridiculous charge since it would be just like saying “am not” to Bush’s “are to”. I think he could respond, often, to each attack by saying it is just another right-wing republican dirty trick and keep repeating this mantra until the public thinks whatever tactics the republicans use are dirty tricks. Responding categorically to each charge adds credence to the attack. Where is Edwards? He should be out attacking like Cheney. I also agree with you concerning Condoleezza Rice. She seems intelligent and articulate and I don't believe a word she says. She’s the Stepford Advisor.
One good thing I heard on TV last night while drifting to sleep is that some major Greenies and Nader backers are saying they will support Kerry - Cornell West, a few name actors and such. I'll try to find a link.
I may know how you feel, Lizzy. I've been keeping my hair short so I can keep the amuont of pulling to a minimum, but my fingernails are suffering. The Zoloft keeps me from checking and rechecking the door locks, among other things... but it isn't as effective as it used to be, especially for my chronic worrying, not with Kerry slipping behind Bush lately. If Bush wins the election, I may have to ask the doc to double my dose.
I take comfort in knowing that I'm not the only one with these very particular idiosyncrasies, Snave. I really do.
I thought I had the hair-pulling under control, but now it's beard-pulling. Arrrgh...
Does plucking the hair on one's legs with a tweezer count? Been a few years doing that - you'd think the hair would have given up by now. I get anxious if I can't find a tweezer around here - so I have many, scattered about my home.
Of course this is a minor aberration. The everyday anxiety and need to isolate seem to be running my life these days. Plucking seems to be an effect, not a cause.
Kerry seems to be standing up more these days. I think the main project for the rest of us is to make sure all the folks that are as disgruntled with the status quo as we are are registered and ready to vote. Too often they aren't - and we need all voices to count this year. Kerry would win in a landslide if everyone who thinks Bush & Co. are inadequate, inept and impossible were to cast a vote sayng so. It never hurts to ask if a person is registered - or needs a ride to the polling place.
Yours for making sense -
Smokey
