As some of you may have noticed, my blogging has slowed down quite a bit lately. I've been batting around the idea of closing up shop for some time now, and I feel that the time has come.
I've been doing this for almost 4 years now, and I simply don't have it in me to continue. I've had a great run, and met some awesome people.
I will leave my blog up in the off chance that I change my mind, or something happens that I can't bear not talking about. (For instance, Hillary dropping out, or Obama's inauguration.)
In the meantime, I will be checking in on all of you from time to time to keep up with your wonderful writings. I promise I won't be a stranger.
Thank you so much for everything. I've enjoyed every minute of it. I love you guys.
Goodbye for now...

We love you too, Lizzy. Take care.
The upcominc cycle is the most important one we'll ever see. I'm staying. There may be but a few thousand readers on any given day, bur that's a few thousand people who are exposed to the truth.
You write beautifully. I hope you reconsider.
Has it been four years?
Time flies.
Stay in touch, I'd love to exchange snail mail info.
If this election cycle doesn't go well I'm headed for the underground.
You will be missed.
I will certainly miss you. Though we've disagreed in the past, I will miss your candor, perspective, and wit.
I will miss your blog Lizzy and hope that you will get that feeling to start back soon. For now I'll just say see you later and take care.
I'll miss your blog, Lizzy! I will definitely check here once in a while in hopes that you have posted something! I think you may be writing something positive re. Obama in the near future. I am hoping you will, anyway.
I have had similar thoughts about closing up shop. I was thinking maybe I would go until my hit counter gets to 100,000 (it says 61,228 as of today), or until I have been doing it for five years. That's 38,773 more hits, or else until July 17, 2009. I think that if was able to manage 50 hits a day it would take more than two years to reach 100K... so a year from July is probably more like it. I know that's kind of arbitrary, but I think I need some kind of time frame in which to evaluate things, and a sort of deadline, even if arbitrary, for ending it. I do it just enough that it takes up time I could be using for playing music, writing, or other creative endeavors. Maybe in the future I can think of a way to incorporate some of my areas of interest into one or more weblogs.
Are you sure you want to stop now? For every one of us on the left that stops blogging, it's one less voice, while blogs like Blonde Sagacity will go on and on... sigh... Anyway, I figure 15-16 more months will take my blog through the November election, through the winter including Inauguration Day should that be allowed to happen, and hopefully about six months into an Obama administration. Jollyroger is right in saying there will be a lot going on this time around, so I will be there to spout my blather about what happens. Be sure you are not a stranger, and that you come share in my agony, my schadenfreude, etc. And if you keep your options open, maybe we will get to read more of your astute observations (and see more of your pictures of smushy-faced dogs!!!)
Cheers, and keep in touch with e-mails,
Snave
Thanks, J. : )
Jollyroger, Thank you for saying that about my writing. I may reconsider. I think I just really needed a break. I'm blaming Hillary!
1138, Yep, almost 4 years. Whether or not I come back, we can stay in touch.
Lew, Thank you.
MC, Thanks for saying that. You and I have been through the wringer together, and we came out of it with mutual respect for each other. It proves there is hope for others out there. I'll keep an eye on your blog. I enjoy it very much.
Thanks, LT. I'll probably be back.
Snave, Yeah, I went through the same thought process you are going through now. I was thinking about stopping when my blog turned 4...or when Hill dropped out...or on January 20, 2009..but in the end, I just stopped because I was burned out. Like I said to Jolly, I'm blaming Hillary. ; )
With that being said, I don't think I'll be gone permanently. Being one less lefty blogger is a concern.
Keep checking back from time to time...you never know.
If and when Hill drops out, I'm sure I won't be able to contain myself!
So, to sum up...I'm not going anywhere. I'll still be reading and commenting on your blogs, and there is always email.
**big hugs to everyone**
Lizzy
Lizzy, I'm sorry to hear this- I love your blog! But I totally understand. I'll be checking back - especially when Billary implodes. :) My email is on my profile page, btw - let's keep in touch, k? I think you're terrific.
Did you have that sigmoidy-thing done yesterday? Everything okay, I hope?
((HUGS))
Oh wait - this is Monday, right? So, like, you're having that done today. Duh. Anyway, good luck!
Best Wishes!
November will determine the direction this country heads in.
If McCain wins we might as well all pack it in and head for another country.
Candace, Yes, we will definitely keep in touch....on your blog and otherwise. My sigmoidy thing went fine. They did find a polyp, but it was noncancerous. So, the final verdict (as far as I know) is that I have IBS.
Thanks, Poli. If McCain wins, I'll go with ya.
I read today that the Clinton campaign isn't paying bills of local companies doing work for them in Ohio and Pennsylvania and are two months behind on health bills for staff.
If that doesn't bring you back.
Hummm. Maybe it will.
Just checking back to see if you are back considering all the Billary news...Hope you are ok..
Mark Penn 'stepped down' as that Columbian Free Trade agreement makes its way to Congress..
Nope, that didn't do it.
I'm enjoying this "time out." I'm trying to not watch as much news either, and I gotta say, I am feeling better.
I'm sure I'll be back...eventually.
Hi Lizzy! I just decided to come back to blogging after being away for two years, and you're leaving? Dang it... I hope you will come visit my sorry little weblog from time to time. I looked at Snave's weblog, and I see he still has a link to my site. Come on over sometime. Cheers!
Hi Donald,
I'll be around.
Welcome back!
[sniff] Come back soon.
