Lone Gunman clip 03/04/2001

Watch this clip from Chris Carter's (the X-Files) short-lived series, "The Lone Gunman." Originally aired 03/04/2001.

Remember these quotes?:

Bush: No one could have conceivably imagined suicide bombers burrowing into our society and then emerging all in the same day to fly their aircraft - fly U.S. aircraft into buildings full of innocent people - and show no remorse.Never did anybody's thought process about how to protect America did we ever think that the evil-doers would fly not one, but four commercial aircraft into precious U.S. targets - never. But never did I dream we would have been under attack this way." -White House (09/16/01)

National Security Adviser Condoleezza Rice: "
I don't think anybody could have predicted that...they would try to use an airplane as a missile, a hijacked airplane as a missile," -CBS (05/17/02)

Air Force Gen. Richard Myers said.: "You hate to admit it, but
we hadn't thought about this" -DoD (10/23/01)

yeah, right.

Wow, that kind of sent chills up my spine. How did you come across it?

and so long as it stays parked with Elivs is and Alien, The X Files, and The Lone Gunman...

The government doesn't have to make anything happen, all they have to do is turn a blind eye here and there at the right time and the world drifts this way and that serving the needs of those they choose - no active conspiracy needed.

That is some creepy shit...

I doubt the plotted it, but I think they knew it was going to happen and took no measures to prevent it because it would be that "pearl Harbor" they wanted in order to gain greater control over America.

Even if they DIDN'T know it was going to happen, I believe that once they learned it was happening, they allowed it to go ahead and happen, for the same reasons.

I think real leaders would have worked harder to protect our country. The Bush administration doesn't contain any real leaders, they are just a bunch of cowardly, power-hungry shit-heels.

I found the clip on MySpace, J. People have been finding some incredible stuff & posting it on there.

Anonymous, I don't know about that. While that may be true in many cases, I don't think so here.

Snave, I don't think we'll ever know what really happened. Yep, the Bushies are bunch of cowardly, power-hungry shit-heels...but most Dems are a bunch of spineless pussies. I don't know what's worse anymore.

BTW, While I do allow anonymous comments on my blog, I don't encourage it.

I remember a quote I heard once. I forget the exact wording or who said it, but it basically said that generals prepare to fight the previous war. With that in mind, I can see how it was very easy for the leadership of our government to not only fail to predict 9/11, but even to fail to realize that such a thing was possible. That isn't to say that Bush and his cronies didn't do their damnedest to take advantage of the situation they found in as craven a manner as this nation has seen in a long time, but I just don't buy your thesis. Nixon was a far better tactician and strategist, yet he couldn't even cover up breaking and entering a hotel room. I guess it boils down to the smell test, and this doesn't even come close to passing it.

I don't know, MC... I think something stinks.

Don't get me wrong. I find there's plenty of stuff to blame them for in the aftermath of 9/11, but I just don't buy that type of conspiracy. That said, what they've done in the 6 years since has been more than awful enough.

I know that in administrations before that attacks like 911 were a concern.
Why they were not by this administration is something they will have to answer for.

first anonymous was me - deal with it. blogger wasn't taking the login were i was that day, nothing sinister about it

I have no idea whether 9/11 was like Pearl Harbor -- we knew about it ahead of time but didn't try to prevent it. Or whether it was our version of the Reichstag Fire. I suspect it was one of those 2 scenarios.

Who Hijacked Our Country

That sent chills up my spine, too.

There was a ton of information out there prior to 9/11 that wasn't acted upon - remember there were people who reported the strange behavior of the hijackers who were taking flying lessons, but didn't want to know how to land the plane? Stuff like that. Plus, the Clinton administration tried to tell the Bushies about the importance of bin Laden's threat, yet that was all ignored.

I don't think Bush could have pulled off anything this sophisticated. But what about the rest of the PNAC crowd?
