The Grand Experiment

Over the past couple weeks I have been weaning myself off the anti-depressant, Lexapro. It has caused an unmentionable side effect and my doctor thought it was a good time anyway to see how I'd do without it.

I have been on one anti-depressant or another since my early twenties, due to family history and/or a chemical imbalance. They have been a lifesaver.

Lexapro has been an especially good one because of it's anti-anxiety component, which helps with the OCD.

I took my last pill today, and it will take a couple weeks until it is completely out of my system.
I wonder what's going to happen.

Will everything be ok? Am I going to be normal?

or...

Will I start rotating more items in the house? Will I start lining things up again? Will I pull out more hair? Will the intrusive thoughts increase? Will my obsession with everything square take on a whole new meaning?

Only time will tell.

New al-Qaida leader 'slaughtered' U.S. soldiers, Website claims

The new leader of al-Qaida in Iraq killed two U.S. soldiers whom the group abducted last week, an insurgent umbrella group said in a Web statement posted today. The statement, which could not be authenticated, said the two soldiers were "slaughtered,'' suggesting they had been beheaded.

For the record, I support John Kerry, John Murtha, and Nancy Pelosi in their bid for a timetable to bring our troops home.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over & over and expecting a different result. The "cut and run" bullshit that Rove spews is ridiculous. As long as we are there, repeating the same mistakes, nothing will change and more of our soldiers will die. Our presence is only making things worse. It's time to get out and let the chips fall where they may.

The only alternative I support is to turn abu ghraib into a hospital, shut down Gitmo, and reinstate the draft (making sure all eligible Bush voters go first.)

Rove won't be charged in CIA leak case

WASHINGTON — Top White House aide Karl Rove has been told by prosecutors he won't be charged with any crimes in the investigation into the leak of a CIA officer's identity, his lawyer said today, lifting a heavy burden from one of President Bush's most trusted advisers.

Attorney Robert Luskin said that special prosecutor Patrick Fitzgerald informed him of the decision on Monday, ending months of speculation about the fate of Rove, the architect of Bush's 2004 re-election now focused on stopping Democrats from capturing the House or Senate in this November's elections.

I'm glad we got him, however...

Basement remodel: Day 54

Blogging has slowed down to a crawl because of the basement remodel. It is going very, very slow.

I am holding my own as far as my anxiety level goes. I haven't started smoking again, and I don't plan to.

When things start moving along better around here, my blogging should increase. But, for now, I hope everyone is having a great Spring.
