Just a quick note to say that Bill Maher kicked royal ass tonight. I'm going to miss him dearly during the shows hiatus.

Many years ago, I was diagnosed with OCD after a lifetime of odd behavior. Politically, I consider myself a far/hard left liberal who will fight against the right wing to my dying day. We were cracking up at how that old Wyoming Republican guy was giving him shit. He held up well, though. Was a great show.
Finally saw the season ender Real Time. It was quite amazing. It seemed like Alan Simpson was unloading years of pent up anger on poor Bill. But I think he was also being really disingenuous...he acted like Wyoming was some Shangri-la of sexual tolerance just because he had gay aquaintances.
I thought the discussion about celebrities in the campaign was interesting...do you think they hurt or helped Kerry?
The celebrity influence on the election probably helped to get some young people interested, but that's about it. I don't think it had any real negative effect because the red state voters had their minds made up well beforehand...just like we did.
You're probably right. I think the right wing loudmouths (especially O'Reilly) blew the celebrity stuff way out of proportion. Remember how bitchy O'Reilly was after 9/11 when the celebrities were raising money to help the families? I think he's jealous or something...
