If I did start again, I'd blame Bush

The pressure is on. Between Norman's knee problems, the basement renovation, the clutter I'm living in because of the reno, and the Bush administration, I'm teetering near the brink of sanity.

Everyone around me smokes: including Tom, my sister, my contractor and all the guys that are working on the house.

I haven't had a cigarette in 2 years, 3 months and 7 days.

As long as I keep reminding myself about huge cancer risk of smoking, I'll be ok, but this isn't easy.

I though Tom quit smoking when you did? Bad boy. Are the contractors t smoking in your house? And, Laura, quit for crying out loud! Lizzy, chew gum - it will help. Seriously. Go for a long, brisk walk. But, please, don't start again. You'll hate yourself. It can't be good for little smush faced dogs to breathe second hand smoke.

Yep, Tom is a bad boy. He started smoking again over a year (or more) ago.

No one is allowed to smoke in the house, including the contractors.

I'm hanging in there and have little doubt that I will overcome this stressful time smoke-free.

Thanks Meesh.

Lizzy, one thing that helps is remembering how bad your clothes smell when you've been smoking. That's gotten me through some tough patches...

I never did take up smoking as a habit. As much as I tend to get addicted or habituated to certain things, it is a good thing I never did. I hope you can weather the tough times here, Lizzy. Persevere!

Our band has to play in a smoky bar tonight for four hours, and while I'm looking forward to playing, I don't look forward to breathing all the second hand smoke. From what other local musicians say, it gets pretty hazy in there. arrrgh...

Washington has banned smoking in all businesses and it is really nice. Great to be able to go hear music without suffocating.

Thanks for all the support, everyone. I will keep all of your suggestions in mind.

So far, so good.

"If I did start again, I'd blame Bush"

Right on. I'm so awfully goddamned tired of the rightwingers blaming everything on Clinton... the guy hasn't bee POTUS for over five years, and he is still "to blame" for so many things in our country.

I ticked off a friend a while back while at a basketball game. I knew my friend was a Clinton-hater, and when the referee really blew a call, my friend was very upset. I told him "It's Bill Clinton's fault, you know." He didn't care for the comment too much at the time, but we are still friends.

Hey Lizzy,
OMG just don't become one of those aweful second hand smoke junkies who follow smokers around all day.

Keep away from the cancer sticks Lizzy!!!
