Our local TV news is not giving the Kerry campaign equal time. On KSTP's 5PM newscast, they gave Dubya about 3 times more coverage than Kerry. The same thing happened on WCCO's 10PM newscast. I immediately called them both on it after it happened. I hope others did, as well.
A liberal bias in the media? My ass.

you probably saw bush more because he was in Minnesota yesterday. I saw a little more coverage of Bush on the 3 stations i watched, but it was reason enough that Bush was in town.
That doesn't matter. The equal time rule applies, wherever they are.
I'm not sure the media has to give equal time anymore.
I think that got scrapped during the Reagan administration or maybe around 15 years ago... I'd have to do some resrearch. Anyway, that's what gave rise to such abominations as Rush Limbaugh: a radio station can give any nutcase they like an unopposed forum.
If people who own the media really wanted an informed voting public, their stations would give people both sides of the story in all cases re. politics. The myth of the "liberal media" has been perpetuated for so many years by the right wing that a lot of Americans accept it as truth. Having that story pounded into us for years has allowed such an abomination as FOX News to not get laughed off the air. The right wingers have softened the public to the point where a hard-right network could call itself "fair and balanced" and people would believe that claim.
I know that is a very cynical outlook, but I don't see how else so many Americans could get so brainwashed unless it was some part of a larger vision by the right. Hammer away at 'em long enough, they'll be ripe for the All Propaganda All the Time Channel... and many of them will accept it like the gospel.
I have to add that just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get me.
Amen, Snave. You hit the nail right on the head.
Good start. I don't know where he found it, but one of my buddies on a Yahoo Message board posted your link.

The "comments" feature seems not to have HTML insert capability, so you can copy and paste in the address field. Maybe that will work.
Anyway, I have decided to do a little practice blogging myself. If you are interested, come visit Hootsbuddy's Place.

You also seem to have found a constructive outlet if OCD can be focused on the tedious nuts and bolts of maintaining a weblog. I'm feeling the pain of a learning curve that doesn't want to go flat as soon as I would like.
And as an old-school Liberal, I also respect your politics.
Welcome, Hoots! And, thank you so much for the encouragement. It makes me feel really good to know that there are a lot of us out there in the world. The righties & mainstream media treats the word "liberal" like a 4 letter word. The more of us that stand up and say "I'm a liberal & proud of it," the better.
I like your blog, as well. I hope you don't mind if I link to you. Please feel free to do the same.
Thanks and welcome.
I want to be able to list a blogroll. Where do I go to find that feature without rebuilding the site?
Hi Hoots,
I tried to post instructions here, but Blogger doesn't allow HTML formatting in the comment section. I found these instructions on the web, but it's a little different than the way I do it. Go down to the third thread, written by Miko168. He explains how to add links to the sidebar, (which is the exact same way you add links to other blogs.) If this doesn't work for you, let me know and I'll email you slightly different instructions.

Good luck.
