Big Night

The Hard Left rockin at First Ave. (Not bad for a cell phone pic.)

AT&T and Little Steven's Underground Garage hosted The New York Dolls at First Avenue last night.

There was a battle-of-the bands contest between 3 Mpls bands to be the opening act for the show. The Hard Left won!

It was a great show. Seeing my boys up there on the big stage was awesome. I also ran into a few people that I haven't seen in 20 years. Punk rockers may get old, but they don't fade away.

Hi Lizzy. This is Brandon from THE COALITION FROM A REPUBLICAN-FREE AMERICA. I just read your profile and I just wanted you to know that you're not alone. My half brother, Brian, is a recovering addict/alcoholic. He's been clean for nearly two years now. He got hooked when he was only twelve. By the time he was fourteen he was into some seriously heavy stuff. He's twenty-one today and thankful for every moment sobriety. That's the good part. Now the bad part. He has also been diagnosed with HIV, the gift that keeps on giving after sharing contaminated needles. I'm so disgusted with the right wing these days they make me vomit. No condoms; no needle distribution programs; and when I talk to my dad and older firends they all tell me that the Reagen administration dragged its feet on the AIDS epidemic while people were dying--it was almost like they were HOPING the virus would eradicate blacks, addicts, and homosexuals. And you know what? I wouldn't be surprised if the WERE.

Thanks, guys.

Damien, I'm not sure if & when they will be posting on iTunes, but how about a free CD? J & Snave received theirs and I have been waiting for you to return from your travels to send one to you.

Brandon, thank you for the kind words. Everything you wrote was right on. Reagan did drag his feet (to put it mildly) and that has been one of the main reasons for my hatred of the neocons, of which Reagan was one of the founding fathers. (If you want to see how it all went down, rent the DVD "And the Band Played On.")

Like your half brother, I didn't come out of the addiction unscathed. In the early 80's before we really knew a lot about AIDS, we all shared needles. I picked up Hep C.
