Bush Approval Rating Hits the 20s for First Time

NEW YORK President Bush’s job approval rating has fallen to 29%, its lowest mark of his presidency, and down 6% in one month, according to a new Harris poll. And this was before Thursday's revelations about NSA phone surveillance.

He's a breath away from Nixon territory. Couldn't happen to a more maniacal guy.

At the rate things are going we may be able to impeach him simply for being so unpopular...

Democrats are saying "we won't impeach but there will be lots of probes" once control of the House is achieved in November.

That sounds pretty good to me. The more that stones are allowed to be overturned, the more that the real need for impeachment will become obvious to more people. If a newly-Democratic House pushed for impeachment immediately, it would be viewed as "overreaching". Give the House a month or three to bring more things to light, and then the country could be cheering for the Democrats.

I think his "rock bottom" would be around a 20% approval rating. If he can sink to the 20% to 25% range by November, it will surely help speed things along.

Take it easy at first, but bring more stuff to light with some well-thought-out investigations... then really go for the jugular! And the more stuff that can be brought to light between now and November, the better, and the easier it would be to sell impeachment to more Americans as a reasonable solution to the big problem our country faces.

Thanks for posting the good news, Lizzy! I had heard of a couple of polls that showed him at a 31% rating, but none yet that had him below that! And below 30%, no less!

It's pretty simple. The guy is a corrupt powermonger, and more people are realizing it. Let's keep it so that more people continue to realize it!

I like your take on it, Snave.

I was pissed when I heard Nancy Pelosi say that impeachment was not going to be an issue after November, but after reading your reply, I think the patient route IS the way to go...but I may change my mind.
